What underwriting is — and isn’t. Underwriting can sponsor a theme — an explainer, a field note series, a podcast episode — with optional recognition. It does not include editorial control, investment rights, equity, guaranteed coverage, favorable treatment, financial return, or the Mercury Research product. The independence of the work is exactly what makes underwriting it worthwhile.
